Manitou Springs Margarita Break

Two posts ago, I wrote about visiting Garden of the Gods with Tess and Kimberly and I mentioned our "margarita break" in Manitou Springs. Well, here it is. And here also is one of the the groovy little shops we went in. (Where I found lots of things I wanted but didn't need.)

Red cowboy boots are definitely involved in my fantasy parallel life in Colorado. I would also be sporting that leather fringe jacket (below) which I think I could actually pull off in L.A. (with the right pair of jeans, of course.)

For some reason I was obsessing over a little antique fishing creel basket. Or I guess that's what it is. I mean, I wouldn't really use it for fishing but I could see myself in a white cotton sundress and cowboy boots collecting wildflowers in the hills with it. You know, a realistic use. ;)

Ruxton's Trading Post ...

I love the boots in the middle, however in jeans you'd miss the red so ... maybe the ones on the left?!

There he is! I knew I'd find him in here! John Denver reminds me of road trips in the late 70s, with my family in the GTO, pulling the tent trailer and listening to Rocky Mountain High on the 8-Track tape player ... can you hear it?

... But the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
Rocky mountain high ...

Isn't it awesome? I love fringe!

Doesn't everyone need a fabulous fish basket? I mean, I probably don't need the animal skull behind it, unless I want to get all "Georgia O'Keefe" in my paintings, but really ... isn't it a great basket?

The Loop where we got our yummy margaritas, just below Pike's Peak.

There are natural springs all over Monitou Springs that are supposed to have various healing properties.
This one was carbonated and tasted like Pellegrino.

He climbed cathedral mountains,
he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory

Now he walks in quiet solitude
the forest and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high ... Colorado

~ John Denver
lyrics from Rocky Mountain High

P.S. ... Oops! Here it is! On the rocks with salt. ;)

More beautiful Colorado to come!
Until then ...
Hope you are having an amazing week!
Blessings and light to you my friends!!

I love that basket, the red boots (the ones that are red all over), and the fringe...on anything. :-)) But you lost me at John Denver. At one time I liked his music, but I lost interest when I got to see his personality and his attitude toward certain people. {It's a personal issue}...He does encapsulate the 70s though!

Now I KNOW we are 'sisters' of a kind! John Denver...wow! I am never ashamed to admit my love for this man! He wrote some of the most beautiful music of our times...as far as those boots go...YES...just get some skinny jeans so you can tuck them in...I can see you strutting around with that gorgeous fringed jacket and the boots no problem! This place will definetly be on my list of road trip landmarks... "Country roads, take me home..."

I am loving that sky and those fringes. And yes I could totally find a use for that fishing basket (and I am sure you could too).

Yep--the boots rock. Too fun. Manitou Springs--don't they have some little cliff dwellings there? Seems like I remember that. The fringe is classic...

Thanks for the comments, my friends!
At some point I am going to have to find some red boots for myself now that I have your approval! Oh, and maybe a little fringe too! :)
