Assisi

This video is a slide show I made on iMovie. I finally uploaded it to YouTube!
It's set (mostly) to the music from Cinema Paradiso by Ennio Morricone ... my all
time favorite movie!

I am planning a trip to Assisi in the spring and I am beyond words! SO excited!
I love it there. Are there places where you've gone for the very first time and felt
completely at home? Assisi is one of those places for me. I felt completely
connected.

My Trip to Assisi 2008 (Let me know what you think!)

Assisi 2008

"Open your heart to receive comfort.
Learn to give it, too.
Comfort touches and heals our souls.
Take it with you like a favorite blanket wherever you go."
~ Melody Beattie
from Journey to the Heart

Where do you feel connected?
Where do you find comfort?

This is stunning, quite lovely. I can feel how much you love it there. My grandfather's favorite song was the Prayer of St. Francis. Interesting I just posted about him tonight. I found you via Jane of spain Daily. In our house we call her Spain Jane.

Thank you for sharing.

Wow, what lovely photographs! Do you have any recommendations for taking better pics? I am always hunting for ways to improve!

I, too, found you via Spain Jane.

I find comfort in long conversations with good listeners as well as feel connected to folks with good stories to which I can relate. That's about the icing on the cake for me :)

For me, I'm most at home in Switzerland. Surrounded by the Alps and the cows, the clear lakes and the crisp, fresh air. Perfection.

I'm with you on the hills - mountains and sea are supposed to be one of those either/or things. Oh, I want to live somewhere like that.

Lucinda, thank you for your absolutely lovely comment on my last blog entry about Evan's family. It's that we are all connected somehow that always amazes me.

Now I read this about Assisi. The post before the post about Evan is an interview with my friend who runs an inn and cooking school in Assisi. I had to think of that when I read this post.

I have been struggling with trying to find a place that feels like home for as long as I can remember. it's the main theme of my life, I think. I am trying to take comfort in feeling at home within myself, if no place else.

Oh gorgeous and breathtaking. I dare say that Assisi has woven itself into your soul...and maybe even mine after that beautiful montage!

I remember having that feeling in Brugge Belgium....and again in Brazil. I grew up in both Switzerland and then Mexico...so think I am always looking for a bit of "home".

How beautiful, i can see why you are so drawn. For me it was my first ever visit to the isle of skye, in scotland, last year. we fell in love with the beautiful island and hope to return very soon. x
