Peace comes from within.
Do not seek it without.
~Buddha
I am working on peace. I have been so busy lately, or at least more busy than I am used to being. (Evidenced by the fewer blog postings!) Along with doctors appointments (fine, just maintenance!) running to auditions, and fighting City Hall (long story) I am also filling in at the desk where I usually substitute teach art. There is a lot of multi-tasking. You multi-taskers out there ... I envy you! How do you do it? I get handed checks while I'm on the phone and then I hang up and have someone in front of me asking another question, then can't remember what the phone conversation was all about. I look down at my notes and can't read my own writing! It's like translating hieroglyphics!
When I get overwhelmed and start feeling stressed I try to remember to keep things in perspective. I am not being asked to take someone's appendix out or diffuse a bomb. I have to remind myself that my reactions are my choice, even though they sometimes feel like they choose me. It is all coming from within. Peace comes from within. And then I remember to b r e a t h e.
If we have not peace,
it is because we have forgotten
that we belong to each other.
~Mother Teresa
...and
We shall find peace.
We shall hear angels,
we shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.
~Anton Chekhov
Hope you are having a peaceful week!
How do you find your peace?

I hear you.
I am also not a multi-tasker, and have all I can do to focus completely on one thing at a time, without allowing my distractions to pull me away and causing me to forget what I was doing. I don't know how I did it in LA where I would drive from the OC to LA, be on the phone the whole time, looking at paperwork on the passenger seat and probably putting on lipstick. I am lucky I lived through it.
Multi tasking and a society that requires it fall short when I think of what a high quality of life should be.
In my attempt at living a meaningful life, I have a goal to be present in all of my tasks, however mundane.
It seems that we live a life of distractions.
I am very happy that my DSL Wi-Fi does not reach my studio or into my bedroom. I go to those two places to escape the outside world.
I wrote that but I meant to write something else as well, what you said about reactions. We do choose them, you are right. It's hard to see sometimes (impossible sometimes, actually) but we do choose our reactions. And we can react with calm in the face of chaos and calamity. Thank you for reminding me of this, today I need it especially.
Peace arrives in unexpected places.
Love the quotations! I find peace with the arts--always through the arts: dance, music, painting, theatre, etc....
I know how you feel... Life does carry you away sometimes in the fast lane.
I then feel I have to retreat and find some peace. I normally go for a walk in the woods.
Don't work too hard and enjoy those peaceful moments.:)
Lovely to visit you.
Jo.
Hi again Lucinda,
Thank you visiting and following my blog.:)
I am now following you too and I have added your site to my creative blog list. I hope that is ok?
I am intrigued to know why Bluebells make you cry, in a nice way?
Really good to catch up with you again.
Best wishes,
Jo.
Lightly salted Kettle chips and a good glass of red : ) .... oh yeah....and deep healing breaths!!!! And smiling. Smiling changes everything. Ever just gave a huge toothy grin to every stranger who passes by? It transforms.
Love from the Queen of Multi-Tasking...
Love these comments ... lovely and beautiful!
