Roma in Pastello (e in bianco & nero)

When I brought a photo I took at The Forum in Rome, to my pastel workshop, some of the ladies thought I was crazy. I mean, yes, there is lot going on and an awful lot of stones and remnants of ruins but, as with most things in life, you just have to simplify. So, I left some of it very loose and dreamy and I also let quite a lot of the watercolor underpainting show through the pastel. It's at the framers now but I took a quick shot of it on my iPhone to share with you!

I miss Rome. Can you tell?

Sometime in your life you will go on a journey.
It will be the longest journey you have ever taken.
It is the journey to find yourself.

Have you been to Rome? If not, is it on your list? Is something else? If you could teleport yourself somewhere today, where would you go?

As you can tell, I am fantasizing today instead of studying but
I guess it's time that I get back to it.

Have a beautiful week!
Blessings and light!

Beautiful painting and photos!

I have felt the one or other pang of homesickness for Rome lately (it was my home for many years). Somehow I need to find a way to go and visit, soon!

I miss Rome, too -- and my life in Italy. Your pictures, and your amazing painting, make me kind of homesick, but they're lovely.

Yes, I've been to Rome...it was divine. Afterward, I posted a piece called "When In Rome"...I should go back to my archives and dig it out for a review :)

Hi lovely Lucinda,
I can tell you miss Italy because your painting is a very sensitive piece of artwork. Love the stone shapes and forms in your picture.
I don't think I have ever been to Rome, but I can't remember because I was very young when I visited Venice with my mum. I think we went on a day trip to Rome once.
Your gorgeous photos make me want to go there. I love Florence, Siena and the Tuscany area. They are places I have been to in later years and like you, I miss Italy as well!
My favourite movie is The talented Mr Ripley. Have you seen it?
It's a must see film if you love Italy.
Great to catch up with you again, sorry for the delay.
Have a good week.
Jo. x
