Cemeteries and Witches ~ October in Millbury, Massachusetts

Millbury Central Cemetery

I had seen this cemetery in the winter of 2010, and knew that it would be just as beautiful, in Autumn. Here is some fall music, to go with it! A little George Winston Autumn ...

I have merged, like the bird, with the bright air,
And my thought flies to the place by the bo-ree.
Being, not doing, is my first joy.
~ Theodore Roethke quoted
in Finding Deep Joy by Robert Ellwood

The fullness of joy
is to behold God in everything.
~ Julian of Norwich
quoted in Meditations with Julian of Norwich
by Brendan Doyle

From joy I came,
For joy I live,
and in Thy sacred joy
I shall melt again.
~Paramahansa Yogananda

Beside the cemetery ...

That evening, on the way to Dawn sister's, I saw the moon reflecting on the lake. We had to drive into a neighborhood and find a spot to photograph through the houses ...

You could just see a just bit of the moon in the water, (see below) by the time we got to it, but what a great view! Might need to paint this! Love the purple and blue sky that also reflects into the water. Fortunately, the owners didn't come out, to see what we were up to. Dawn said they's probably be flattered anyway.

Pumpkin carving with Dawn's family ...

And, Dawn and I getting into the Halloween spirit. It was October 18th, after all!

Blessings and light!

You brought back many wonderful memories of autumns in New England. I lived there for a decade, and I loved it. Your photographs of the cemetery are wonderful. The autumn leaves and the old grave stones complement each other beautifully.

Love the photos. Wonder why cemeteries are soothing... Me, I'll be scattered to the four winds.

Such a beautiful story about the city of the dead. I love walking through these places, reading and imagining the lives once lived. So peaceful.
